Mission and Vision

Our Vision

All people should have the privilege of discovering and developing their own natural resilience and inner strengths allowing them overcome past adversities and face the ups and downs of life in a robust and self-affirming way. The Hanly centre has been committed to this vision for almost forty years.

Our Mission

Our mission is to bring Peace, Hope and Serenity to those affected by alcohol addiction and abuse, family of origin adversity, dysfunctional family behaviours and related difficulties.

The Hanly Centre is committed to excellence and to leadership in the provision of services which concern the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing of families and individuals.

Our Services

While our core counselling services are for those whose lives have been adversely affected by alcohol abuse and/or addiction - problem drinkers themselves or members of their families who have been affected by their drinking- our auxilliary service, the BREAK THE CYCLE programme is for those whose lives have been affected by childhood trauma in general. The Hanly Centre is dedicated to supporting resilience development and bringing recovery through high-quality, cost-effective services to families and individuals in crisis.

We are dedicated to providing counselling and other treatment services as well as programs of prevention, education and research - that lead to a reduction of the devastating effects of alcohol use disorders on individuals, families and communities. We are committed to raising awareness as to how the cycle of abuse and dysfunctional behaviours originating in the family can be broken and triumphed over.

Our Values

We believe:

  • The opportunity for resilience building, recovery and healing should be shared and accessible to all
  • Each client is an individual of worth who has unique needs and who is entitled to dignity and respect
  • In being of service
  • In honesty, open-mindedness and willingness to learn

Our Values with regard the treatment of alcohol problems

We believe:

  • Recovery from addictive disease is a continuous commitment, for the addict and family to a transformation of body, mind, spirit and relationships with others
  • Addictive disease is a chronic relapsing disease requiring a comprehensive and compassionate response
  • In dealing with persons with an addiction in treating the whole person, as well as the addiction
  • In Sobriety, Freedom from Addiction and the effects of Addiction
  • Addictive disease is widely misunderstood. New understanding of its effects will lead to improved prevention and treatment of the disease.
